THE HOLIDAYS

It's been a while since we've written and an eventful 2 months...
We'll start with Thanksgiving with the Bennetts. Not only was it nice to get away from the snow, but it's always fun visiting the family! Thanksgiving was a little different than usual this year, at Mom's house instead of Grandma's. It was way fun to spend the holiday with members of both sides of the family. We also decorated the tree, well after first decorating Tyler...

Then Jacob made Smores with butter crackers and mini marshmallows to celebrate.
We were also able to spend time with friends which is always nice. We met up with our Thatcher buddies Karl and Arica which was LONG overdue.
We met up at Arizona Mills on black Friday and got some nice discounts, hung out at Gameworks and ran into Bret and Karl's old roommate David John which was amazing and hilarious and made the day even more fantastic.
Being in Phx was nice, we were able to go to Jacob's school Thanksgiving program where we saw how grown up he is and already talks about being boy/girl trapped :0) It was great spending time with him and also our little cousins Ashley and Aidan who get cuter every time I see them! And also, Amber got to hold baby Logan which made her trip complete.
Before we left the sun for good we spent a day to exchange Christmas presents. Bret bought Jacob a lightsaber which is still a mystery... We had it up in our bag unwrapped for a while, then we wrapped it up and Jacob was so excited to open it he could hardly stand it. Someone asked him what he thought it was and he quickly yelled "a lightsaber!" We think he might have seen it in our suitcase because then he quickly said it was probably a big hotdog and stuck with that story from that point on.
Whitney drew Amber's name and I heard her telling a couple people she just wanted a present for Amber for Christmas. Then she bought the best and most thoughtful present... a hair dryer which works amazing to replace her 10 yr. old pink huge one with Lindsay's name written on the side... and Bret got a Chili's gift certificate from Tyler which bought us a meal and dessert!
Now on to CHRISTMAS...

Christmas for us was definately different this year. We decorated the tree, but didn't put any presents under it. Mostly just because we were always together when we bought the presents. Newlyweds, right? Here Amber is hanging our first ornament...

And this is Bret being manly...
Christmas day was spent in Mazatlan, Mexico. We were actually there for a whole week. Probably the most relaxing week of my life. To the right is the condo we stayed in with Nate, Stef and Alice. The palm trees on the left lead to the campsite where the rest of the family stayed.

The condo...

This picture was taken from off of our balcony in the condo just to show how close we were to the beach.

Our first day there Bret was lucky enough to find a baby sea turtle in the sand. Later we were able to see a whole nest of turtles making their way to the ocean. Pretty cool.

Bret's sexy face? I like that you can see our arms holding the camera in Amber's huge sunglasses.

The weather in Mazatlan was perfect. Shorts during the day and jackets at night. Definately made coming home to nine inches of snow a shock!

Going to church was pretty fun. Half Mexican, half American... half Spanish, half English.

Going to the Market is always fun and interesting. Just when you thought you'd seen it all...

We both tried skimboarding, and I am now very impressed of Bret and anyone else who can do this without falling.

Don't worry... it's only temporary!

Our team (Bret) built a detailed sandcastle of Helm's Deep. He did a really good job.

I know it may not seem like a typical Christmas, but we did sing Christmas carols, even after we all conveniently forgot our Farnsworth Family Caroling books, but it ended up being a lot of fun.

And last but not least... the sunsets were beautiful!!!

They were BEAUTIFUL! Even in a picture taken with our 7 year old 35mm which barely works anymore...

We had tons of fun and hope everyone else had a great holiday season as well. Lots of love!!!
